Both luxury pret and formals are embellished, occasion-ready outfits, so what is the difference? Here is a simple guide.
Luxury pret
“Pret” comes from prêt-à-porter, meaning ready-to-wear. Luxury pret pieces are elegant but easy to wear: lighter embroidery, comfortable silhouettes and fabrics such as raw silk, crepe, chiffon and shisha silk. They are perfect for:
- Eid gatherings and family dinners
- Daytime events, mehndis and dholkis
- Evening parties where you want to look polished without heavy work

Formals
Formals sit between pret and bridal. They have richer embellishment (zardozi, dabka, cutdana and pearls), more structured silhouettes and often organza, net or velvet layers. Choose formals for:
- Wedding guest outfits
- Nikkah, engagement and Walima guest looks
- Formal dinners and festive evenings

Quick comparison
- Embellishment: pret is light to moderate; formals are moderate to heavy.
- Comfort: pret is designed for all-day wear; formals for statement occasions.
- Making time: both are made to order at Eva Couture, usually in 3–4 weeks.
