Eid morning
Choose fresh, light colours such as mint, lemon, powder blue, blush and ivory in breathable raw silk or chiffon. A short shirt with a straight shalwar or palazzo is comfortable for prayers and greeting family.
Family lunch
Go for a long kurta or kalidaar with delicate embroidery and a printed or ombré dupatta. Pastel florals and tonal threadwork feel festive without being heavy.
Eid dinner or Chand Raat
Evenings call for richer tones such as emerald, wine, sapphire and black, and a little more sparkle: sequins, cutdana and pearl-embellished necklines. Pair with statement earrings.
Styling tips
- Let the neckline be the focus: keep jewellery minimal if the neckline is heavily worked.
- Use the dupatta to change the mood of an outfit between day and night.
- Choose comfortable footwear; Eid involves a lot of visiting.
